A Lake Forest resident experienced a wave of relief after discovering that his daughter, who he thought was a victim of the recent mass shooting at Cook’s Corner bar, was actually alive and transported to a local hospital. William Mosby of Lake Forest first learned of the tragic news when he tuned into a television news broadcast. He was devastated to hear that his daughter, Marie Snowling, had been murdered and made his way to Providence Mission Hospital Mission Viejo’s Emergency Room with the aid of a cane. However, upon speaking with hospital staff, Mosby received the much-needed reassurance that his daughter had indeed been brought in alive and was subsequently transferred to UCI Medical Center. The relief he felt was overwhelming, as the initial news he received was nothing short of horrifying.
Mosby shared that his daughter had recently gone through a divorce with her ex-husband, who had previously served in law enforcement when they resided in the Camarillo area. The ex-husband, whom Mosby described as unstable, struggled to cope with the end of their marriage. On the night of the incident, Marie Snowling had been on her way to the regular spaghetti feed at Cook’s Corner, a routine she followed every week. Shortly after her departure, the piercing sounds of police cars racing towards Trabuco Canyon could be heard in Mosby’s yard. It was at this moment that friends started contacting him, informing him that his daughter had been shot in the face.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported that the shooting resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including the shooter, whose identities were not yet disclosed. Furthermore, six additional people were admitted to hospitals, five of whom sustained gunshot wounds.
