In a tragic incident that took place on September 20, a man was arrested in Paris, accused of impairment in a Midland crash that resulted in the death of three of his family members. The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash, which involved multiple vehicles, led to the death of three individuals, including a 12-year-old boy. Additionally, four others were injured in the accident that occurred on Highway 24/27 near Bethel School Road.

The three victims have been identified as Nicolae Gheorghe, 49, Adela Gheorghe, 47, and the 12-year-old boy. The investigation into the incident included gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. According to the findings, it is believed that the van, traveling east, veered into the path of a truck and an SUV heading west, resulting in the collision.

Further investigation revealed that the driver of the van, identified as 19-year-old Solomon Gheorghe from Norwood, was impaired at the time of the crash. As a result, an arrest warrant has been issued against him for three counts of felony death by vehicle and one count of felony serious injury by vehicle.

The sheriff’s office successfully detained Gheorghe in Paris, France with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service. Currently, the extradition process is underway to bring him back to the United States to face legal consequences.
