Following a fatal crash on Interstate 75 that left three people dead and five others injured, a truck driver has been identified and arrested. The accused has been identified as Billy Lee Kieffer and is facing multiple charges for his role in the crash. Kieffer, who hails from Orlando, was later booked into county jail and had his bail set at $100,500.
Kieffer Appears in Court
The 67-year-old suspect made his first appearance in court on Saturday. Circuit Judge Gregg Jerald presided over the hearing, during which Kieffer was informed that he would be prohibited from operating any vehicle with wheels, including a bicycle, if he posts bond.
Furthermore, Kieffer was appointed a public defender, and his next court appearance is scheduled for early January. The court also restricted Kieffer from having any contact with the victims involved in the crash.
The Crash and Its Aftermath
The incident, which occurred last year on October 26, involved six vehicles and led to a fatal fiery wreck on I-75, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The series of events, as detailed by Florida Highway Patrol Cpl. Shaun Lattinville, involved multiple vehicles, including a semitractor-trailer driven by Kieffer, a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck, and a Chevy Tahoe.
The tragic collision ignited a blaze that claimed the lives of Jodie Lee Williams, Richard Terrell Parker, and Enrique Lopez Masqueda, along with several others suffering injuries.
