‘Fastest Prankster: Cheetah Joke Takes First Place in Edinburgh Fringe’s Funniest Joke Contest with Top 10 Hilarious One-liners Uncovered’

Comedian Lorna Rose Treen has emerged as the recipient of this year’s Funniest Joke at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, making her only the second woman to win in the award’s 14-year history. The public votes annually on a shortlist of one-liners heard at the Scottish arts festival as chosen by a panel of comedy judges.

Treen claimed the prestigious Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe prize with her witty one-liner: “I started dating a zookeeper, but it turned out he was a cheetah.” This joke received the highest number of votes, with 44 percent of respondents choosing it as the best joke.

In reaction to her win, Treen expressed her delight and gratitude, stating that she is “blooming chuffed” at this achievement. However, she humbly described the joke itself as “stupid.” The comedian eagerly shared that she can’t wait to inform her mother about this accolade. Treen referred to the Edinburgh Fringe as a wonderful debut experience and expressed her immense gratitude for winning this title with her supposedly silly joke.

Treen’s winning joke is taken from her show, “Skin Pigeon,” which is her first performance at the Fringe. The show revolves around a customer who shares her life story with the audience playing the role of barkeepers.

Alongside this recent achievement, Treen is also the reigning champion of the prestigious Funny Women comedy award.

The Funniest Joke prize, founded in 2008, was initially won by Zoe Lyons. Since then, Treen is the first woman to claim this prize.

Last year, comic Masai Graham won the award for the second time with his joke: “I tried to steal spaghetti from the shop, but the female guard saw me and I couldn’t get Pasta.” However, Graham secured the fifth position in this year’s contest.
