Prior to starting Roseate, Cloud had a successful career at Tiffany & Company, working in various roles, including leading the company’s merchandising efforts. The idea for Roseate came about during a conversation with her former boss, Michael J. Kowalski, who served as Tiffany’s CEO and board chairman. They discussed the concept of building a brand differently and discovered a shared love for pearls.

Pearls are the central theme of Roseate, which Cloud founded with the support of Kowalski, who is one of its founding investors and a board member, along with Cloud’s husband, Christopher Cloud. While Roseate offers classic pearl items like 18-karat rose gold stud earrings, their designs mostly have a contemporary and casual feel. The collection includes pieces like Wands, featuring lab-grown diamonds and mother-of-pearl, and the TreasureLocks collection, which features gold bead necklaces resembling pearls. The inaugural collection, consisting of 50 pieces, was designed by Eddie Borgo, who brought a unique design perspective inspired by nature and water.

Roseate’s jewelry is crafted by skilled artisans in New York, Rhode Island, and California, using pearls sourced from Kamoka, a farming operation in Tahiti, and the Paspaley Pearling Company in Australia. The brand aims to make its jewelry accessible, with prices ranging from $150 for a sterling silver bracelet to $39,500 for an 18-inch South Sea pearl necklace. The majority of sales occur through their website, but they also have pop-up stores, including one in Washington, D.C., and a planned temporary shop in New York’s West Village.

In addition to their focus on pearls, Roseate has aligned itself with organizations that support oysters and clean water, essential elements in pearl creation. This strategic move allows the brand to establish an authentic connection with charities and environmental causes. Roseate donates 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of specific designs to charity, with the Bloom Wand pendant benefiting the Billion Oyster Project and the Water Wand pendant supporting Conservation International.

For Cloud, working with pearls brings her career full circle, as she recalls buying her first piece of jewelry from Tiffany, a strand of pearls that her 18-year-old son now wears daily. Roseate embodies her passion for pearls and her desire to create a brand that embraces modern design while making luxury jewelry accessible to a wider audience.
