The 62-year-old guitarist and singer, Andy Taylor, has been an advocate for prostate cancer awareness ever since being diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in 2018. To further raise awareness, he will be joined by Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Andrew Ridgeley of Wham!, David Palmer of ABC, Ella Henderson, and Phil X for a special event. During the event, these iconic musicians will perform some of their greatest hits for guests, including philanthropists, musicians, and two lucky fans. The event will take place at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds on October 21.
Apart from the musical performances, there will also be a live auction featuring works by renowned artists Banksy and Picasso. Additionally, comedian Katherine Ryan will provide a comedy set and Andrew Ridgeley will take on the role of DJ. The funds raised from this event will be directed towards the Cancer Awareness Trust, which aims to develop a user-friendly platform providing information about the disease for individuals with prostate cancer.
Andy Taylor’s cancer journey has been transformed by Professor Sir Chris Evans, who co-founded the charity and played a vital role in identifying the life-changing treatment that Taylor is currently receiving. Taylor expressed his gratitude towards Sir Chris and his team for the support and knowledge they have provided. Prostate cancer remains a significant cause of mortality among men, despite the availability of multiple testing and treatment options. Taylor believes that easily accessible information is crucial and hopes for a revolution in men’s healthcare regarding prostate cancer and the elimination of associated stigmas.
Professor Evans expressed his excitement for the upcoming event and described it as a celebration of Taylor’s achievements as a musician, collaborator, friend, and ambassador. He looks forward to celebrating with the amazing people involved and emphasizes the urgent need for the raised funds to contribute to transforming cancer outcomes.
