Exciting Update: FedEx Unveils Ambitious Blueprint for New State-of-the-Art Logistics Hub Adjacent to Dublin Airport

FedEx Announces New Headquarters in Ireland
FedEx has revealed plans to build its new headquarters in Ireland. The company has announced that construction will begin in January and is expected to be completed by early 2025, pending planning approval. The facility will be located in the Horizon Business Park south of Dublin Airport and will serve as FedEx’s main operations hub in Ireland. This strategic move by FedEx demonstrates its commitment to the global trading market, particularly in a country that exported over €165bn worth of goods in 2021.

Enhancing Operations and Sustainability
The new FedEx headquarters will consolidate several key operations, including a pickup and delivery station, aircraft operations, customs clearance teams, and other back-office functions. The facility will feature a warehouse covering over 14,500 sqm with ample space for trucks and vans to load and unload shipments. In addition to its operational capabilities, FedEx is prioritizing sustainability by incorporating rooftop solar panels, insulated ceiling and wall panels, and double-glazed UV protective windows.

Manager’s Perspective
Mike Roche, the manager director at FedEx Express Ireland, is confident that the new facility will significantly enhance the company’s offerings in Ireland. He believes it will provide faster and more reliable service to Irish businesses, both domestically and globally. The close proximity to the airport will reduce transfer times, ensuring efficient logistics for FedEx’s customers.

Recent Expansion and Financial Growth
FedEx Express Ireland has experienced significant growth in recent years. In February, the company opened a new handling facility in Cork worth €12m. The most recent accounts show that the company’s workforce has expanded, with 179 employees compared to 110 the previous year. Turnover also surged to just over €51m, up from €21.7m in the previous financial year. The company recorded an operating profit of €3.4m, an increase from €732,000, and net profits soared from €440,000 to just over €2.8m.
