Exciting News: Starfield’s Upcoming Beta Patch to Include DLSS 3 Support!

Bethesda is preparing to incorporate Nvidia’s graphics upscaling technology, DLSS, into its upcoming game Starfield. However, before that happens, the company is looking for assistance from the PC gaming community through an opt-in beta test available on Steam.

According to Bethesda’s announcement, the next update for Starfield will include DLSS with frame generation, as well as display and HDR controls for compatible systems.

The absence of DLSS support in the RPG was a concern even before its release, leading AMD, the exclusive PC partner, to assure its full support should Bethesda decide to add the Nvidia technology. Following the release, modders quickly introduced unofficial DLSS support, highlighting its performance-enhancing capabilities on gaming PCs with Nvidia graphics cards.

In a Digital Foundry video, Alexander Battaglia stated, “If you’re on Intel and Nvidia, you’re experiencing an unusually inferior performance here compared to AMD GPUs.” While Starfield already supports AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR 2), Bethesda mentioned in a subsequent post that an upgrade to FSR 3 with AMD’s frame generation technology would have to wait for a future update.

Bethesda has also promised other fixes, such as an FOV slider and 32:9 ultrawide monitor support, which are forthcoming. More information about these updates will be available during the beta test scheduled for next week. Eventually, the update will be available to all users on Xbox and PC. If you have already purchased Starfield on Steam, you can express your interest in participating in the beta by navigating to the game’s properties through your Steam library settings. In the “betas” section, you will find a drop-down box with various choices.
