Get ready for Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1, an unexpected patch set to launch on December 5 alongside the Ultimate Edition. This surprise reveal comes straight from a Twitch stream, where Cyberpunk 2077 producer Monika Janowska, quest director Paweł Sasko, and senior community managers Amelia Kołat and Alicja Kozera shared the exciting news.
The big news for fans is the addition of the long-awaited metro system. As shown in the original trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty cinematic trailer, the metro system has finally been added, featuring 19 stations and five operational metro lines to explore.
“Our direction when what we wanted to was make sure players have a way to really be in the world and have an immersive way to travel through the world,” said Sasko. “This is designed to be a role-playing feature.”
The update also includes the ability for players to carry a radio and listen to Cyberpunk 2077’s various radio stations even outside of a vehicle. Additionally, boss fight improvements and the ability to replay car races will also be part of the update.
Other exciting additions coming with the update include more vehicles, the ability to add impromptu car chases, vehicle mechanics upgrades, a revamped accessibility menu, and more. CD Projekt Red also teased other features such as romantic partner hangouts.
Update 2.0, believed to be the final big patch, was released alongside the Phantom Liberty expansion in September. It brought major changes to the game, setting the stage for the new Cyberpunk 2077 experience.
In our 9/10 review, IGN said: “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty completes an immense turnaround for CD Projekt Red’s future RPG kickstarted with the anime spin-off, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and its latest 2.0 Update.”
