TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled hard-throwing pitcher Nate Pearson from their triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, N.Y.
Pearson, a right-handed pitcher, was active for Friday’s game against the Boston Red Sox.

Right-handed reliever Bowden Francis was optioned to the Buffalo Bisons as a corresponding move.
Pearson boasts a record of 5-2 with an earned-run average of 5.18 and 41 strikeouts in 40 innings this season.
Francis has a 1.73 ERA and one win with 35 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings pitched.
The Toronto Blue Jays are currently positioned 1 1/2 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the third and final wild-card spot in the American League.
