Hollywood writers are back at work, and the Drew Barrymore Show is returning, this time likely without picketers outside. The show announced on Instagram that its new season will begin on Monday, Oct. 16. Barrymore faced backlash last month when she tried to relaunch the talk show during the strike. She later apologized and said she would wait until the strike was over. Other daytime talk shows are also returning, including the Jennifer Hudson Show, which came back on Oct. 2, and The Talk, which will return on Oct. 9, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Kelly Clarkson announced that her show will return on Oct. 16.

After facing backlash for relaunching her TV talk show during the Hollywood strikes, Drew Barrymore decided to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over. She made this announcement on Instagram, expressing apologies to those she may have hurt and recognizing the incredible team that works on the show.
The show resumed taping while writers and actors unions picketed outside, as reported by the Washington Post. Some picketers chanted “We expect more from Drew Barry-more!” Two audience members wearing “Writers Guild on Strike” pins were asked to leave. Barrymore posted an apology video on Friday, which was later taken down. Other actors urged her to reconsider her initial decision. Several daytime shows have resumed taping, although not all of them are back on air yet. Tamron Hall and Live With Kelly and Ryan, for example, are not prohibited by writers guild rules from producing new episodes. The Jennifer Hudson Show and The Talk will return on Monday.
