Ex-Son-in-Law Settles Denis Brosnan Legal Bill Dispute with $30,000 Payment

Former Kerry Group CEO, Denis Brosnan, is seeking advancement for legal fees in his transatlantic business dispute with his ex-son-in-law, Geoff Cramer, and his technology company, Futures Group. The dispute centers around loans and investments made by Brosnan to Cramer and his company, worth several million dollars. In January, a US court ruled that Futures was required to indemnify Brosnan in advance for his legal costs. However, in May, Futures challenged the nearly $200,000 legal bill. Brosnan, in response, argued that Futures was attempting to relitigate an issue already decided by the court and had objected to the majority of his billing entries. Futures recently claimed to have paid Brosnan approximately $30,000 for undisputed, advanceable expenses. The company further alleged that Brosnan had tried to charge for all legal services from November 2022, which resulted in the inflated bill. Futures has objected to Brosnan’s request for advancement, arguing that he failed to provide a general description of the work performed and redacted necessary context. Brosnan’s spokesperson declined to comment, and both parties are yet to respond to the recent legal filing. The dispute originated from a lawsuit filed by Cramer and Futures Group, accusing Brosnan of falsifying and destroying corporate records, evading taxes, and inflating the company’s debt to him. Brosnan denies these allegations and has counterclaimed. Mediation attempts have so far been unsuccessful.
