The Irish government is offering up to €80,000 (£69,000) to individuals willing to purchase property in the country’s offshore islands.
A ten-year national policy called ‘Our Living Islands’ was recently published to enhance the population of several remote islands.
However, the grants are only accessible if the selected property was built before 1993 and remained unoccupied for at least two years.
The funds can only be used for building improvements, such as insulation installation, structural enhancements, and redecoration.
Heather Humphreys, the Minister for Rural and Community Development in the Republic of Ireland, stated: ‘I’m thrilled to introduce ‘Our Living Islands’, our new ten-year National Islands Policy, the first in 27 years.
