President John F. Kennedy’s grandson expressed his disapproval of his cousin’s White House campaign on Friday, referring to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s attempt to secure the Democratic nomination as an “embarrassment.”
In an Instagram video, Jack Schlossberg urged his followers to disregard Kennedy’s “vanity project” of running for president.
“He is capitalizing on the notion of Camelot, his celebrity status, conspiracy theories, and conflict in order to gain personal recognition and fame,” said Schlossberg, who is the son of Caroline Kennedy. “I cannot fathom why anyone believes he is fit to be president. What I do know is that his candidacy is a source of embarrassment. Let us not be diverted once again by someone’s self-indulgent endeavor.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is known for endorsing conspiracy theories and has been a prominent figure in the anti-vaccine movement. He has falsely claimed that immunizations are responsible for autism, allergies, cancer, and various other childhood illnesses.

He announced his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in April, becoming one of the few long-shot contenders seeking to unseat Biden, whom Schlossberg encouraged his followers to support.
In his Instagram video, Schlossberg highlighted Biden’s achievements, stating, “He has appointed more federal judges than any president since my grandfather. He put an end to our longest war, he tackled the COVID pandemic, and he ousted Donald Trump. These are the issues that truly matter. And if my cousin Bobby Kennedy Jr. genuinely cared about any of them, he would also endorse Joe Biden.”
Schlossberg is not the only member of the Kennedy family to criticize their distant cousin. Earlier this week, one of the candidate’s sisters condemned him for suggesting that COVID-19 was “ethnically targeted” towards certain individuals.
“I vehemently disapprove of my brother’s deplorable and untrue remarks regarding the engineered ethnic targeting of Covid,” said Kerry Kennedy in a statement.
She previously expressed her differing opinions from her brother when he initially launched his campaign, stating, “I love my brother Bobby, but I do not share or endorse his viewpoints on various topics, including the COVID pandemic, vaccines, and the responsibility of social media platforms in addressing false information.”
