Similarly, a comparable percentage of people expressed their willingness to change the trim, color, or model of the vehicle to expedite the delivery process.
Furthermore, almost one-third of the participants chose to buy an electric car due to its exemption from Ultra Low Emission Zone charges, which amount to £12.50 per day in London.
Ian Plummer, the commercial director of Auto Trader, emphasized that the semiconductor shortage had significantly worsened the supply limitations caused by the pandemic lockdown. He also pointed out that electric vehicles were particularly affected by the shortage, as they require a larger number of semiconductors.
Plummer concluded by stating that although there are indications of improvement, a swift return to normal supply levels is not expected. As a result, extended lead times are likely to persist for the foreseeable future.
