Eagles Quarterback Provides Clarification on His Current Status – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Jalen Hurts Refuses to Reveal How He Got Injured

But He’s Eager to Explain How He Didn’t Get Hurt

He Didn’t Sustain the Injury from Running

“I can’t recall ever getting injured as a runner,” stated Hurts on Wednesday. “All my injuries have occurred within the pocket, despite the belief that running the ball increases the risk. That’s not always the case. Not here.”

Last Sunday, Hurts clearly played at less than full health during the Eagles’ impressive win against the Dolphins on national television at the Linc. However, he still delivered one of his best performances of the season, throwing for 279 yards, completing 74 percent of his passes, scoring two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, and throwing one interception, which was returned for a touchdown.

While Hurts didn’t disclose many details about his injury, head coach Nick Sirianni stated that he expects Hurts to play in Washington on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles did not include Hurts on their injury report for Wednesday. Since the team only held a walkthrough, the injury report is an estimation of how the player would have been listed in a full practice.

“We are confident that he will be ready to go, but it’s never easy when these guys are playing through pain and other issues,” Sirianni acknowledged. “We anticipate him playing, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be challenging.

“I believe he is feeling better. We are hopeful that there will be no limitations on Sunday.”

In other words, there’s no way Hurts will miss this game.

Hurts is known for his reluctance to discuss or acknowledge injuries. However, he did admit that his knee was bothering him during Sunday’s game.

“When you’re injured, you just have to find ways to win,” he explained. “I don’t want to make it a bigger deal than it is. I believe every player in this league deals with injuries. Things happen, and you have to figure out how to overcome them.”

This marks the third consecutive year that Hurts has dealt with a significant injury. In 2021, he injured his ankle in a Week 12 loss to the Giants. Although he only missed one game, he never fully recovered and required offseason surgery.

Last year, Hurts suffered a sprained shoulder during a Week 15 game against the Bears and missed two games. Since the middle of the 2021 season, the Eagles have been

Since Week 13 of the 2021 season, the Eagles have a record of 23-2 when Hurts plays and 0-3 when he doesn’t.

He understands that everyone in the organization expects him to play every week, regardless of his condition.

“I don’t think I fully realize the role I have and the impact it has,” he admitted. “I simply go out there and strive to be the best version of myself and uplift those around me. It’s just who I am.

“It’s not something I really want to discuss because…the show must go on. We all go out there and fight for one another. We play hard for one another. We all share the same goal. So, let’s leave it at that.”
