Duke Quarterback’s Epic Victory Falls Short of Securing Professor’s Extension: What Went Wrong?

Duke University quarterback Riley Leonard achieves an incredible feat, leading his team to an upset victory over Clemson University on Monday night in North Carolina. However, despite his success on the field, one of his professors denies him an extension.

The Blue Devils secure a 28-7 win over the No. 9 Tigers, with Leonard’s outstanding performance contributing to the triumph. He amasses 175 passing yards and 98 rushing yards, including a spectacular 44-yard touchdown run.

Regrettably, Leonard’s gridiron victory comes at a cost to his academics.

The junior overlooked a school assignment due at midnight and realizes he won’t be able to complete it on time.

However, like any determined athlete, Leonard understands the importance of taking chances. So he records a video requesting an extension from his professor, Donald Taylor, who teaches public policy.

“Professor Taylor, if you’re seeing this, please let me turn in my homework late because it’s due tonight, I think at 12. So it may already be 12,” Leonard appeals in the video, which he shares online.

The professor responds with his own video message, but ultimately grants the quarterback’s request.

“Hey, Riley. Great game last night,” Taylor acknowledges. “It was incredibly exciting. Congratulations to you and all your teammates.

“But you know Wesley Williams and the other linemen who are in the class? They managed to prepare ahead and complete the assignment early. So why didn’t the quarterback? No way, man. No extension.”

Opinions on the exchange are divided on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Some individuals agree that Leonard should have been better prepared for the assignment, while others criticize the professor’s response.
