Driver Ryan Koss Charged with Grossly Negligent Operation Causing the Death of Actor Treat Williams in Fatal Crash

Renowned actor Treat Williams tragically passed away after a fatal motorcycle accident in Vermont. The incident, which occurred in Dorset on June 12, involved a vehicle pulling in front of Williams, leaving him with no chance to avoid the collision, according to Vermont State Police. The driver responsible for the accident, Ryan Koss of Dorset, has now been charged with grossly negligent operation causing death.

Koss, 35, was processed on the charges and released, pending his arraignment on September 25. It is currently unclear whether he has legal representation. Williams, 71, was pronounced dead at Albany Medical Center in New York, with the Medical Examiner’s Office determining that the cause of death was severe trauma and blood loss resulting from the crash.

According to authorities, Koss was attempting to turn left into a parking lot when he unexpectedly crossed paths with Williams’ 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle. The collision caused Williams to be thrown from his motorcycle. Fortunately, Koss sustained only minor injuries and his 2008 Honda Element suffered significant damage to its front passenger side.

Treat Williams had an illustrious career spanning almost five decades, with notable roles in renowned TV shows like “Everwood” and films like “Hair.” He amassed over 120 TV and film credits, including appearances in movies such as “The Eagle Has Landed,” “Prince of the City,” and “Once Upon a Time in America.”
