Drew Barrymore Leaves Event Abruptly as Fan Invades Stage, Asserting Her Identity

Drew Barrymore swiftly exited the stage at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on Monday night after a disruptive audience member approached her and started speaking. It happened during Barrymore’s interview with actor-singer Reneé Rapp at the Upper Manhattan venue.

The interruption occurred when a man suddenly shouted, “Drew Barrymore!” Startled, Barrymore responded with, “Oh my God, yes? Hi!” as the individual quickly made his way towards her.

The man identified himself as Chad Michael Busto and insisted on meeting Barrymore while he was in New York. Security from 92NY immediately stepped in, surrounding the disruptor and instructing him to back away, while Rapp safely escorted Barrymore offstage.

After the incident, Barrymore and Rapp returned to continue their conversation about Rapp’s recently released debut album, “Snow Angel.” Entertainment journalist McKenzie Morrell praised both women for their handling of the situation and their quick recovery.

Request for comments from Barrymore, Rapp, and 92NY representatives were unanswered at the time.

A video capturing the incident was shared on Twitter by Pop Crave.

The 92NY event featured acclaimed singer-songwriter and actress Reneé Rapp in conversation with Drew Barrymore about her debut LP, “Snow Angel,” followed by a special performance. Attendees had the opportunity to hear Rapp discuss the album’s creation, the personal inspiration behind its songs like “Snow Angel” and fan-favorites such as “In the Kitchen,” along with stories from the studio and more. Rapp, known for exiting the Max comedy series “The Sex Lives of College Girls” in Season 3 to focus on her music career, also stars as Regina George in the upcoming “Mean Girls” movie musical.

Drew Barrymore is currently filming Season 3 of her variety talk show, “The Drew Barrymore Show,” in New York City.
