Former U.S. Court of Appeals Senior Judge, Maryanne Trump Barry, Passes Away at 86
Maryanne Trump Barry, the older sister of former President Donald Trump and a former federal judge, has passed away at the age of 86, according to sources.
She was discovered in her Fifth Avenue apartment at about 4 a.m., with no signs of trauma or foul play, as reported by ABC News. Emergency crews responded to a call of a person in cardiac arrest.
A spokesman for former President Trump declined to comment on the news of Barry’s passing.
Barry served as a senior judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit until her retirement in 2019. Her judicial career began with an appointment to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1983, followed by an appointment to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1999 by then-President Bill Clinton.
Barry retired amidst an investigation into judicial misconduct related to alleged fraudulent tax and financial transactions involving her father and siblings. The investigation was closed without a conclusion upon Barry’s retirement in February 2019.
Of the former president’s four siblings, now three have passed away. Robert Trump, his youngest brother, died in August 2020 at the age of 71. Fred Trump Jr. also passed away of a heart attack at just 42 years old in September 1981.
During the end of Trump’s presidency, his relationship with his older sister made headlines when his niece, Mary, published a book and released audio recordings of her aunt, Maryanne, criticizing her younger brother.
However, sources told ABC News that their relationship had been on a path to reconciliation, and the siblings had seen each other as recently as that summer at Trump’s club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
