The Best Food Options and Consistency on Princess Cruises: A Personal Experience
When it comes to dining on Princess Cruises, I have never been disappointed. The food at the buffet and in the main dining rooms is simply outstanding, making it unnecessary for me to pay extra for specialty dining. The best part is that I can enjoy delicious meals whenever I want. – Lauren Mack
Every Princess cruise I’ve been on has offered a wide range of dining outlets and dishes that are almost identical or very similar. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, the main dining rooms and the World Fresh Marketplace buffet (Horizon Court on Regal Princess) never fail to provide me with quality food choices without any additional charges. The freshness and taste of the food are always on point, never feeling mass-produced or stale. What’s more, the menus are constantly rotated, ensuring variety. Moreover, each ship I’ve been on has a 24-hour International Cafe where I can grab delightful snacks like a brie sandwich or house-smoked salmon farmhouse quiche. The consistency in amenities and service across all Princess ships has been remarkable, giving me a sense of familiarity and predictability. – Lauren Mack
When it comes to accommodations and entertainment, Princess Cruises also maintains a high level of consistency. Across all the ships I’ve sailed on, I have found the bed and entertainment options to be largely the same. The cozy luxury bed with a medium-firm mattress and plush, 2-inch-thick pillow top is a common feature in every cabin I’ve stayed in. Entertainment options such as song-and-dance shows, comedians, and pianists are consistently available, as are amenities like the fitness center and The Lotus Spa. In terms of dining, the main dining rooms offer a consistent lineup of desserts, including Princess Love Boat Dream, traditional New York cheesecake, and the opportunity to create your own sundae beside the nightly specials. Additionally, the onboard internet has proven to be reliable and lightning-fast, allowing me to easily access it from my room. – Lauren Mack
During my most recent cruise, I was particularly impressed with the internet service onboard. I decided to purchase two one-day MedallianNet passes for $20 per day, and the speed and stability of the internet amazed me. I was even able to stream television shows without any buffering issues. This alone makes Princess Cruises a top choice for me when I need to work remotely without any connectivity concerns. And not to mention, I never experience FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) on Princess Cruises as the schedule is not packed with daily activities. I find this to be refreshing, allowing me to truly relax and escape the feeling of missing out on anything. Unlike some other cruise lines, Princess Cruises is not a “party” cruise line, which suits me perfectly. On my three cruises, I noticed that the majority of passengers were senior citizens who knew how to enjoy themselves, but things generally quieted down by 10 p.m. Furthermore, I observed that there weren’t many children on board, and honestly, I believe there wouldn’t be much for them to do anyway. – Lauren Mack
Princess Cruises also stands out in terms of their loyalty program. Compared to other cruise lines, achieving elite status on the Princess Cruises loyalty program is much easier. Progressing through the four levels (gold, ruby, platinum, elite) of the Princess Captain’s Circle is based on the number of cruises taken and cruise nights accumulated, and the minimum requirements seem attainable. For instance, after completing just three cruises, I had already attained ruby status. The perks that come with platinum status are enticing, including 50% off MedallianNet, access to special lounges, 10% off treatments at The Lotus Spa, and priority boarding. To reach elite status, an additional 10 cruises or 100 cruise days are required, which can be easily accomplished by embarking on Princess Cruises’ longest voyage ever, set to sail for 116 days in 2025. – Lauren Mack
While there are a few downsides, the value for money on Princess Cruises surpasses them for now. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the cocktails offered on Princess Cruises. Furthermore, on my latest sailing, I observed that fitness and meditation classes that were once free now came with an additional cost of $20 to $30 each. Additionally, depending on the ship and cruise length, the onboard entertainment may feel repetitive. However, these minor disappointments do not deter me from considering future cruises with Princess. Now, I’m just left with the enjoyable task of deciding which of Princess Cruises’ 330+ worldwide destinations I want to explore next. – Lauren Mack
