Discover the Must-Know Information About Nexon and Nexon.ev – Your Ultimate Top 5 Guide

The new Nexon and Nexon.ev from Tata Motors are packed with an abundant array of features that surpass their predecessors in terms of style, appeal, and materials. Tata Motors is taking a new direction by revamping its popular vehicle lineups, including the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. The new Nexon and Nexon.ev have already been unveiled, and they will be officially launched on September 14th. Here are the top changes you should know about.

1. Exterior Design
Both the Nexon and Nexon.ev showcase a fresh and sophisticated Curvv-inspired design DNA. The front fascia has been redesigned to feature a new grille, vertically arranged LED headlights, dynamic LED DRLs with sequential function, and welcome function. The overall appearance is more aggressive, and both models share the same exterior attributes. However, the Nexon.ev goes a step further by offering LED connected DRLs that project the vehicle’s charging status when plugged in. Both the ICE and EV versions also boast a similar 16” aero alloy wheel design. The rear of the vehicles boasts new LED tail lights and a connected pattern. Tata has cleverly integrated the rear wiper into the spoiler, giving it a clean look. The profile remains similar to the current model, with a rising beltline and a coupe-ish effect.

2. Interior Overhaul
The interior has undergone a revolutionary transformation. Tata has introduced new materials and designs to elevate the overall experience. Notable changes include a new steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a redesigned dashboard and center console. The steering wheel features touch and toggle controls for audio and cruise control. The HVAC control panel also incorporates a similar touch and toggle function. Above this panel, you’ll find a new 10.2” display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The 360-degree camera is polished, and the stitching of multiple camera feeds is impressive. The center AC vents and console have been redesigned, and the new gear selector in the automatic variants looks chunky and sophisticated. The fully digital instrument cluster supports full-screen maps, resembling those found in premium vehicles. The inclusion of purple upholstery and glossy plastics adds a touch of newness to this segment.

The Nexon.ev takes it a step further by introducing the Empowered trim that sits above the Nexon ICE’s top-spec Fearless trim. This trim includes a larger 12.3” touchscreen with the Arcade.ev suite of apps, including various video streaming apps that can be accessed when the car is stationary. The Nexon.ev Empowered trim also features an electronic parking brake.

3. New Trim Hierarchy
Tata has revamped its trim hierarchy by moving away from letter-based incremental trims and opting for words instead. The core trim levels for the new ICE Nexon facelift start with Smart at the base level, followed by Pure and Creative as mid-level trims. The top-spec trim level is Fearless, with additional S and + variants available for extra addons. The Nexon.ev trims are structured slightly differently. Creative serves as the base-level trim, Fearless is the mid-level trim, and a new top-spec trim called Empowered offers additional features and equipment over the Fearless trim. Tata has also streamlined the Nexon.ev lineup by introducing MR (Medium Range) and LR (Long Range) models, omitting the EV Prime and EV Max nomenclature.

4. Features Bonanza
The Nexon and Nexon.ev come loaded with numerous features. Tata has made 6 airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, multi-drive modes, and hill hold control standard across trims. However, the standout features of the new Nexon facelift, such as the 10.24” slim bezel touchscreen infotainment screen, JBL music system, ventilated front seats, and leatherette upholstery, are only available with the top-spec Fearless trim. The Creative trim also offers a plethora of features, making it a sensible choice for many. Paddle shifters, front parking sensors, and the 360-degree camera are available from the Creative trim onwards. Tata has also catered to the growing demand for sunroofs in India by offering one starting from the base Smart trim in S variants. The Nexon.ev now includes V2L (Vehicle to Load) and V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) discharge capabilities.

Powertrain Updates
For the Nexon.ev, Tata Motors has not made any changes to the batteries but has introduced lighter motors. The claimed range is 465 km with the LR model and 325 km with the MR model. The ICE Nexon facelift features a reconfiguration of transmission options, as well as a slight retuning of the 1.2L turbo petrol engine and 1.5L turbo diesel engine. The rumored 125 PS and 225 Nm tune with the 1.2L petrol engine may be limited to future Racer versions. The petrol engine still produces the same 120 bhp and 170 Nm. The Smart trim now comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the mid-spec trims offer a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT. Starting from the Creative trim, Tata is also offering a 7-speed DCT option. The diesel engine now delivers 115 bhp of power with the same 260 Nm torque. The diesel engine’s gearbox choices remain the same as the outgoing model – a 6-speed MT and 6-speed AMT.
