Samsung is gearing up to unveil its next-generation flagship smartphone in less than two months, and there have been numerous leaks about the upcoming devices. Despite rumors that suggested Samsung would upgrade the RAM on its high-end devices, a new rumor has emerged that refutes these claims.
Galaxy S24 series to maintain same RAM as predecessors
The usually reliable tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) has reported that the base Galaxy S24 will come with 8GB of RAM and will not offer the option to upgrade memory with higher-priced variants. The Galaxy S24+, on the other hand, will have a variant with 12GB of RAM, but its entry-level version will still use 8GB. The rumor also suggests that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will continue to offer 8GB of RAM in the base model and 12GB in higher-specced mode.
If this information is accurate, it raises concerns for Samsung from a consumer perspective. Cutting costs and not offering more RAM in its flagship smartphone lineup for four consecutive years may not sit well with consumers, especially as these devices are expected to feature on-device AI, which requires more memory. This is particularly unfavorable when compared to competing Android brands that offer 16GB or even up to 24GB of RAM on some models.
