Discover the Exciting Comeback of Westfalia Camper Vans in North America for 2024!

For now, it looks like the canvas campers are being added exclusively to domestic vehicles. On the company’s newly launched dot-com address for America — currently just a sign-up for the newsletter — there is just one image of a pop-top. The image of a van is only partially in view, but looks like a Ram ProMaster, a U.S. variant of the Columbus camper based on the Fiat Ducato available in Europe. (In Europe, the Columbus models include compact kitchens with operating fridges, gas stoves, and sinks, as well as the requisite pop-up sleeping areas.)

RV Business has confirmed that the units will be built by Roadtrek Inc. — owned by France’s Rapido Group since 2019 — in Cambridge, Ont., and will be moved through a dealer network that isn’t yet public. The trade publication also heard from Westfalia North America’s head of sales, Len McDougall, who confirmed that the RVs will “feature sleeping availability in the front, rear, and upper pop-top area of the van,” just like the old ones.

Westfalia-America is expected to debut some of its wares at a trade show in Indiana this month.
