In its restructuring plan filed on October 16, Rite Aid has designated 31 stores in California for closure. The plan, submitted to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, aims to address the company’s declining sales and resolve opioid-related lawsuits. Despite initially suggesting the closure of 500 stores, Rite Aid now intends to close at least 154 locations.
Los Angeles County will be the most affected, with 10 stores scheduled to close. Orange County will see six closures, while the Inland Empire will experience two. Only one store, located on South Archibald Avenue in Ontario, has already closed. Rite Aid has assured that most of the listed stores have been notified of the closure, while others will close in the coming weeks.
