Diana Ross Delivers a Life Lesson at Wolf Trap: Embrace Change or Risk Falling Behind

At the Filene Center at Wolf Trap on Saturday night, Diana Ross expressed her concern for the movement of the capacity crowd, stating, “I want to see you moving. I can’t see you moving. Are you moving?”

Considering the energy and enthusiasm Ross brought to the stage, moving was the least the audience could do throughout her nearly two-hour performance.

Ross joked with the crowd, proclaiming, “You know I’m 79, right? Move it or lose it.”

The phrase “Move it or lose it” perfectly encapsulates Ross’s career. With over six decades in the spotlight, she has constantly pushed boundaries and excelled in various fields, from dominating pop music as a member of the Supremes to achieving success as a solo artist and venturing into acting.

During her Music Legacy Tour stop in Fairfax County, Ross and her talented team performed two dozen songs, many of which have become iconic anthems for fans. Despite her age, Ross showcased her undeniable talent and proved that she can still deliver captivating performances.

Backed by a nine-piece band and four background singers, Ross commanded the stage with her vibrant presence and impressive vocal control. Her dazzling outfits added to the spectacle, reflecting her vibrant personality and changing moods throughout the show.

However, the most remarkable aspect of the performance was Ross’s unwavering joy and zest for life, which remains undimmed even after years of touring. Her passion for music and dedication to her craft are truly inspiring.

The Music Legacy Tour lived up to its name, featuring timeless hits like “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Come See About Me,” “Love Hangover,” “Upside Down,” and “I’m Coming Out.” Ross also paid homage to her film career with songs from “The Wiz” and “Lady Sings the Blues.”
