BEREA, Ohio — Deshaun Watson showcased his throwing skills for the second consecutive day as the Cleveland Browns determine his readiness to face the Arizona Cardinals. Watch the video above to witness his performance.
During the early part of practice, Watson executed short, intermediate, and deep passes with impressive velocity. Despite being limited, he took the first-team reps and demonstrated the preparedness of a starting quarterback. However, whether or not he will play on Sunday remains uncertain.

In reflection of his previous decision to play against the Colts on October 22nd, Watson declared that this time he will defer to the “experts.” In that game, he sustained a shoulder injury and had to leave during the first quarter. As a result of his absence, the Browns’ record has been 2-2, with P.J. Walker stepping in as a starter and contributing to the Colts’ victory (39-38).
Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Walker will start if Watson is unable to play. However, Watson seems to be on the path to recovery as it has been six weeks since the initial injury, despite the initial estimation of a four to six week recovery time. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt expressed optimism about Watson’s progress after witnessing his recent practice performance.
Both Watson and Van Pelt indicated that the upcoming AFC North matchups against the Baltimore Ravens on November 12th and the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 19th will not significantly impact Watson’s availability for Sunday’s game. Ultimately, the Browns will start a healthy and prepared Watson when the time is right.
“We’ll put a healthy Deshaun out when he’s healthy and ready to go,” stated Van Pelt. “Couldn’t tell you when that’ll be.”
