Delivery giant Tuffnells enters administration, resulting in over 2,000 staff being made redundant.

Tuffnells, a major UK delivery firm, has announced that over 2,000 of its employees will face redundancy after the company fell into administration. Following its appointment on Monday, Interpath, the company’s administrator, plans to retain just 128 employees. Tuffnells manages logistics for 160 destinations around the world, operating from 33 depots in the UK. The company has been struggling since being taken into independent ownership in 2020, experiencing competition, increasing costs and pandemic-related pressures according to the administrators. Responding to the announcement, Rick Harrison, managing director at Interpath Advisory, said that in the face of high competition and significant cost inflation, “the company has experienced intense pressure on cashflow.” Tuffnells’ 2,200 employees will receive support to make claims to the Redundancy Payments Office and to minimize disruption to customers.
