Debunking the Media Lynch Mob: A Closer Look at Trevor Bauer’s Controversial Rape Case

Where is Trevor Bauer’s path to redemption?

What about his MLB career?

He’s lost two years of his life, missed out on opportunities, and endured the stress of false accusations as a violent rapist. How can he turn back time?

Unfortunately, he can’t. It’s impossible for anyone to do so.

In this country, you’re supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. But for the former Dodgers pitcher, that presumption never existed.

The media took pleasure in targeting him, particularly as a Trump-supporting climate skeptic.

He lost the career he had dedicated himself to since childhood.

At 30 years old, he had to go to a new country and start over, while being labeled as the “disgraced Trevor Bauer” back home.

Accuser’s Background

Lindsey Hill, 29, his accuser, is a slim, blond woman with a history of being romantically involved with San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. and Chicago White Sox pitcher Mike Clevinger.

Unfortunately for Bauer, he also got involved with her in April and May 2021, after which she accused him of choking her unconscious and punching her during sex, resulting in her hospitalization.

Her lawyer released photographs showing her with black eyes, a cut lip, and a scratch.

According to a sworn declaration by Hill, she suffered significant injuries, including two black eyes, a bloodied swollen lip, bruising, and a “skull fracture.”

In an industry affected by the #MeToo movement, Bauer, an abrasive and uncompromising individual, was the perfect scapegoat. And his photogenic accuser seemed too good to be true.

Bauer’s career was ruined.

The Dodgers distanced themselves from him.

Major League Baseball suspended him without pay for a record 324 games.

All based on mere allegations.

After a police investigation, no charges were filed against Bauer.

Hill’s attempt to obtain a restraining order against him failed when a California court found that she had been “materially misleading.”

Bauer went 22 months without playing a game until he signed with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in Japan for a fraction of his Dodger contract.

Suspicious Texts

Instead of quietly accepting his fate, Bauer fought back.

He filed a defamation lawsuit against Hill, claiming that she made up the allegations of sexual assault to create a media frenzy and destroy his baseball career, all in an attempt to extract millions of dollars from him.

He also sued media outlets Deadspin and The Athletic.

Hill countersued for sexual battery.

On Monday, both parties dropped their lawsuits, with no financial settlement, and Bauer retained his right to speak about the case.

In a video he posted, Bauer revealed “critical information” that included text messages allegedly sent by Hill.

One of the texts read, “Next victim. Star pitcher for the Dodgers,” which she sent to a friend before meeting Bauer.

She then asked another friend, “What should I steal?” before visiting his house for the first time. The response: “Take his money.”

Bauer continued reading from the texts: “Then after the first time we met, she texted, ‘Net worth is 51mil.’ The response was, ‘B–ch, you better secure the bag!’ But how was she planning to do that? ‘Need daddy to choke me out?’ she said, and ‘Being an absolute whore to try to get in on his 51 million.’ ”

Bauer also played a Snapchat video that was supposedly taken by Hill the morning after she claimed to have been brutally attacked.

The video showed Hill lying in bed next to a sleeping Bauer, smirking at the camera without any marks on her face.

There were no scratches, swelling, or blood on her lips. She did not appear traumatized. Instead, she looked triumphant.

“You can see her lying in bed next to me while I’m sleeping, smirking at the camera without a care in the world or any marks on her face,” Bauer said in the video.

“And now we have the metadata, so there can be no dispute that it was taken mere minutes before she left my house on the morning of May 16, 2021 . . .

“I think it paints a pretty clear picture of what actually happened the evening of May 15th and why the video was originally concealed from us . . .

“As I’ve said from Day One, I never sexually assaulted Lindsey Hill or anyone else for that matter.”

Nothing Comes for Free

It’s a treacherous world for a young man with fame and fortune. Let this serve as a lesson that there is no such thing as free sex. There are always expectations.

Meanwhile, the day after Bauer’s vindication video, Hill appeared on comedian Alex Stein’s show, where she smeared Bauer, claiming that “several different women” had accused him. She portrayed herself as the victim: “I just didn’t know that it would reach this level of hate for me.”

Hill blamed bad lighting for the absence of injuries in her morning-after video.

“That video was taken with no lights on in the room . . . So there are differences between natural light and all that stuff . . .  If you zoom in, you can see the scratches on my face. You can’t see them if there’s a shadow,” she claimed.

This will never end until there are consequences for making false allegations that ruin a man’s life.

Hill should be charged similar to Jussie Smollett, who faked a hate crime.

Malignant behavior only proliferates when there are no repercussions.

Nancy’s Foolishness

Poor Kevin McCarthy. He put his trust in Nancy Pelosi.

In his farewell speech, the former speaker casually revealed how his Democratic predecessor betrayed him.

“It’s interesting. It was in this room after we had won the majority, and I became speaker while Nancy Pelosi was still speaker at the time. I told her I was having issues getting enough votes. She said, ‘What’s the problem?'”

McCarthy confided in Pelosi that the holdouts wanted him to agree to a rules change that allowed any single lawmaker to file a motion to oust the speaker.

“And she said, ‘Just give it to them. I’ll always back you up . . . because I believe in the institution.’ Today, I think the Democrats made a political decision.”

No surprise there. McCarthy’s naivete alone disqualified him for the position.

At least he had the satisfaction of having Pelosi thrown out of her Capitol office.

Nun Creates a Stir at the UN

I had the privilege of attending a preview screening recently of the incredible and inspiring film, “Mother Teresa & Me,” which I highly recommend.

Interestingly, the preview took place at the headquarters of the United Nations, where the film’s message that all life, from conception to death, is valuable appeared refreshingly rebellious.

Hopefully, the legacy of the remarkable nun will bring purification to the Turtle Bay complex.
