Orange County prosecutors are currently considering filing criminal charges against Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy, Michael John Miscione, who was off-duty when he fell asleep at the wheel in November 2022 and caused a fatal car accident, resulting in the deaths of two Camp Pendleton Marines. Although the accident occurred almost a year ago, the California Highway Patrol recently handed over the accident report to the district attorney’s office on September 21, recommending that vehicular manslaughter charges be pursued against Deputy Miscione, who is 26 years old.
A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office, Kimberly Edds, stated, “One of our experienced homicide prosecutors is diligently reviewing the facts of the case to determine what criminal charges can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”
