Coyote vs. Acme Receives Glowing Reviews from Christopher Miller and Phil Lord – The Hollywood Reporter

Oscar-winning duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have praised the highly-anticipated film Coyote vs. Acme, describing it as “delightful.”

Lord and Miller, well-known for producing the animated hits Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Lego Movie franchise, took to X on Tuesday night to announce that they had already seen Coyote and vouched for its exceptional quality.

“I saw COYOTE VS ACME and it’s delightful,” tweeted Miller, “Funny, charming, good physical comedy timing, with a surprising amount of heart. I hope several studios go after it so the world can see all the good work people did.”

Coyote Vs Acme is wonderful. @dgreenmachine nails it,” echoed Lord, “Hilarious, smart, existential, and moving, and makes this all-time character more relevant than ever. 🧨💥❤️”

In a news report last Friday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Dave Green’s movie would be Warner Bros.‘s third completed project to get shelved, following the cancellation of nearly completed projects Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt in August 2022. This decision caused an outcry in the creative community, with sources stating that several filmmakers canceled their meetings with Warners in response.

Warners, however, later decided to allow Green to shop the movie to other potential buyers instead of shelving the project for a tax write-off.

The $72 million film, a live-action, CG animation hybrid, featured John Cena and the iconic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote and had DC Studios co-head James Gunn as a producer. THR reported that, unlike the other films Warners canceled, Coyote was fully completed and had been thoroughly tested multiple times.

Miller joined other filmmakers in hailing the movie. Writer-director BenDavid Grabinski, who worked with Green on Happily, tweeted: “Coyote vs. Acme is a great movie. The best of its kind since [Who Framed Roger Rabbit] … The leads are super likable. It’s beautifully shot. The animation is great. The ending makes everyone cry. I thought the goal of this business was to make hit movies?”
