Costa Coffee’s Urgent Recall of Sandwiches and Wraps Over Stone Contamination Concerns | Latest News for Food & Drink Industry

Costa Coffee is conducting a recall of certain sandwiches and wraps due to the potential presence of small stones. The popular high-street coffee chain has cautioned customers that four specific products could be affected and may pose a choking hazard if consumed. The affected items include Costa’s chicken and bacon Caesar wrap, southern fried chicken wrap, chicken salad sandwich, and bacon, lettuce, and tomato (BLT) sandwich. The recall applies to products with use-by dates ranging from September 6 to September 8.

In a statement, Costa Coffee expressed their serious concern over the issue and apologized for any distress caused by the recall. A spokesperson for Costa Coffee stated, “Our supplier has alerted us to the possible presence of small stones, which could pose a choking hazard if consumed. Customers who have purchased any of the listed products are urged not to consume them and are advised to return them to a store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.”

The Food Standards Agency has issued an alert regarding the recall, advising customers not to consume the “unsafe” products. It should be noted that only the listed Costa Coffee products are affected by the recall.

Recently, several major supermarket chains, including Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco, had to recall a range of chilled products due to concerns about potential plastic and metal fragments in some batches.
