Convicted Woman Sentenced to State Prison for Fatal Attack on Relative, Injuring Another

A 68-year-old woman from San Jacinto, Nancy Susan Wischmeyer, has been sentenced to 32 years to life in state prison after pleading guilty to murder and attempted murder. The incident occurred during a confrontation at their San Jacinto home, where Wischmeyer shot two female relatives, killing one of them.

Wischmeyer admitted to the charges in front of Riverside County Superior Court Judge Jorge Hernandez at the Banning Justice Center, without any involvement from the District Attorney’s Office.

In exchange for her admissions, sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations against the defendant were dismissed by Hernandez.

The confrontation took place on August 2, 2022, when Wischmeyer got into an argument with the victims at their residence on Meridian Street. The argument stemmed from the women telling Wischmeyer to move out.

During the altercation, Wischmeyer pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds, injuring both victims. Patricia Jean Crowe was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mary Alice Crowe underwent surgery at a regional trauma center and has since recovered.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Richard Carroll described the defendant and victims as “estranged family members.”

Wischmeyer was taken into custody without any issues at the house. She had no previous felony convictions in Riverside County.
