In October 2023, Ubisoft will remove the controversial graphical setting of Assassin’s Creed Mirage from the game. However, players will still have the option to enable it if they prefer. The decision comes after Ubisoft considered feedback and decided to eliminate chromatic aberration in the virtual 9th-century Baghdad, which is expected to please many players.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been successful for Ubisoft, despite the mixed opinions about its return to form. While players appreciate the smaller scale of the game, many have expressed dislike towards the mandatory chromatic aberration visual setting forced upon them.
Chromatic aberration is a real-world optical effect caused by certain camera lenses. Ubisoft intentionally included it in Assassin’s Creed Mirage to simulate light passing through a lens, distorting the visuals and colors at the edges of the image.
I previously wrote about Ubisoft addressing the chromatic aberration issue in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and I am delighted to share that it will be removed soon.
According to ‘Waldo,’ a member of the AC community team on the official Assassin’s Creed Discord, Ubisoft is actively working on addressing feedback regarding Chromatic Aberration in the game.
“With our upcoming update near the end of the month, Chromatic Aberration will be deactivated by default on all platforms, and you will have the choice to enable or disable this feature in a dedicated menu.”
Great news! If you are a fan of the chromatic aberration feature, you can still activate it. However, for most players, it will no longer be a default setting, fulfilling the wishes of many since the game’s release.
