In a recent interview on the “Just for Variety” podcast, actor Adam Brody shared insights about his career in the entertainment industry. While he has faced numerous roles he’s missed out on over the years, there is one part that he still thinks about: the lead in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, ultimately played by Chris Pratt.
Brody admitted that Pratt was the better fit for the role, given his physicality and strength. However, he expressed his admiration for the tone of the character and how much he connected with it.
Interestingly, Pratt himself has revealed his struggles with auditions for Marvel movies. In an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Pratt talked about auditioning for a role in “Thor,” but not getting a callback. He even received feedback from the casting director, suggesting that he should dial back his acting choices. This experience led Pratt to believe that he would never be part of a Marvel movie.
But fate had other plans. Pratt eventually landed the role of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord) in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series. Director James Gunn recognized something in Pratt during his audition and encouraged him to be himself. This genuine approach worked, and Pratt has now appeared in multiple Marvel sequels.
Both Brody and Pratt’s experiences offer a glimpse into the sometimes challenging and unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry. Despite setbacks, their resilience and unique qualities eventually led them to success in their respective roles.
