Charlie Puth Interrupted Intimate Moment to Capture Spontaneous Melody on His Voice Notes

  • Charlie Puth once interrupted an intimate moment to record a song on his voice notes.
  • During an interview with Interview Magazine, Puth admitted he should have focused more on the act itself.
  • He also shared that he avoids listening to hip-hop during sex because it feels too obvious.

Charlie Puth’s dedication to songwriting led him to pause a moment of intimacy to record music.

The 31-year-old “Attention” singer revealed in an interview with Interview Magazine that he came up with the melody for his track “Marks On My Neck” from his 2022 self-titled album while in the midst of an intimate act.

“I wrote the song in the middle of the act,” Puth said. “Maybe I should have focused more on the act itself, but the melody just popped into my head, and I quickly recorded a voice note before returning to the act. But that’s where that melody came from.”

Since the interview was published on June 13, Puth’s revelations about his sex-related songwriting process have gone viral, with quotes being shared on Twitter by pop culture accounts like Pop Base and sparking various reactions from users.

“We should all know less about each other,” one user responded in a tweet that has over 14,600 likes as of Saturday.

“That poor man/woman,” another user wrote, presumably referring to the individual with whom Puth was intimately involved when he came up with the song.

“Most roundabout way to say you totally get laid ever,” another commenter added.

In the interview, Puth was also asked about his music preferences during intimate moments. He mentioned artists like Roy Ayers, Delegation’s “Oh Honey,” and “Blue in Green” by Miles Davis. Puth stated that jazz is always his genre of choice, while he avoids hip-hop as he finds it too obvious.

Puth, who gained fame after being discovered by Ellen DeGeneres in 2011, is currently working on his next album, expected to be released next year.
