Mississippi Couple Reunited with Escaped Pet Spider Monkey

A Mississippi couple recently experienced a nerve-wracking 24 hours as they anxiously awaited the safe return of their unusual pet, a spider monkey named Kenzie. Cameron and Kaitlynn Cuevas of Biloxi lovingly adopted Kenzie when she was just 6 weeks old, approximately two years ago.
“Kenzie is like a member of our family,” said Cameron Cuevas during an interview with WLOX-TV. “She has been with us from day one, just like a baby. She only knows us, our three kids, and our daily routines. She holds a special place in our hearts.”
The Cuevas family dropped off Kenzie at Cameron’s mother’s house, where the monkey managed to escape and ventured into the nearby woods. Filled with concern, the family promptly turned to social media, specifically Facebook, to seek assistance. Within no time, volunteers offered their support and began combing the area in search of the curious critter.
A dedicated individual named Ben Ward joined the search effort, accompanied by his talented hunting dogs. These four-legged experts successfully tracked down Kenzie approximately 24 hours after her escape.
Cameron Cuevas recounted his phone conversation with Ben: “‘Cameron, we found her. She’s right here in your mom’s arms,'” he said with relief.
The Cuevas family jubilantly shared the news of Kenzie’s safe return on Facebook, expressing their gratitude for the unwavering support received. They mentioned that while Kenzie was tired, scared, and weak, she was finally home. The furry escapee was treated to a refreshing bath and blow dry before settling down for a well-deserved, extended nap.
