California is stepping up its efforts to combat smash-and-grab robberies happening throughout the state, with a budget allocation of $267 million. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass emphasized the importance of ensuring that residents can shop in the city without fear. Law enforcement agencies in California have been actively combatting organized retail crime since 2019, resulting in the apprehension of over 1,250 individuals and the recovery of stolen goods valued at $30.7 million, according to the governor’s office.
