Lydia Velez Gonzalez, a cast member of “Love is Blind” Season 5, recently shared insights about her relationship with fellow cast mate Aaliyah Cosby after their involvement in a somewhat confusing love triangle on the popular Netflix dating show.
In an exclusive interview with People, Velez Gonzalez revealed that any chance of continuing their friendship in the future is now unlikely. She expressed her feelings of hurt, explaining that Cosby drew her own conclusions without giving her a fair chance to know her true self once the cameras stopped rolling.
Interestingly, Velez Gonzalez made it clear that she has never spoken ill of Cosby, but she cannot say the same about Cosby, who has openly made negative comments about her.
Velez Gonzalez concluded by wishing Cosby the best and acknowledging that they are no longer friends.
During Episode 3 of this season, another cast member, Uche Okoroha, revealed that he had a prior relationship with Velez Gonzalez before joining the show. This revelation caused conflict as the contestants are meant to be strangers, communicating through walls called “pods.”
Complicating matters further, Okoroha developed a strong romantic bond with Cosby in the pods while both Cosby and Velez Gonzalez were forming a friendship.
Okoroha and Velez Gonzalez kept their past connection a secret until Episode 3, following an agreement with the show’s producers to disclose their history once they became aware of it.
Cosby left the experiment before Okoroha had the chance to propose to her in the pods. Couples who get engaged in the pods meet face-to-face and spend time together before deciding whether to get married on their wedding day.
Cosby later explained to Okoroha that one of the reasons she left the show was because Velez Gonzalez revealed details about her past relationship with Okoroha, information she did not want to know. Her conversations with Velez Gonzalez made her question the intentions of both her former friend and Okoroha.
Since then, Okoroha and Cosby have ended their relationship, as revealed by Cosby during her appearance on “Hanging with the Hamiltons” podcast.
The highly anticipated reunion episode of “Love is Blind” will be available for streaming on Sunday.
