CBS is considering a sale of its West 57th Street Broadcast Center and a move to a different Manhattan location, according to a recent announcement by CBS Entertainment President and CEO George Cheeks. The confirmation came after reports last week and was announced in an internal memo to staff obtained by The Post’s Alexandra Steigrad. Cheeks stated that CBS is “in the early stages of this process” and that a timeline for any potential sale, design and build of a new facility, and an eventual move is difficult to predict. Despite the uncertainty, multiple major commercial developers and landlords have shown preliminary interest in making a deal with CBS. The network will still have a presence on the block at SL Green’s 555 W. 57th St., a modern office and studio building, where it signed an early five-year lease renewal in January. This is a refreshing departure from the common practice of denying accurate press reports about corporate decisions.
