One Year Ago Today (October 1, 2022)…A 39-year-old man suspected of attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with an underage girl was apprehended in Perris. Little did he know, the supposed girl was actually a decoy involved in an undercover sting operation. Authorities wasted no time in taking action against Louis August Lockard of Perris, booking him on charges of arranging to meet a minor for illicit purposes and contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense. Lockard is currently being held at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside, with bail set at $50,000.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department revealed that the nonprofit Child Predator Catching Unit engaged in a series of online communications with Lockard, posing as a Perris-area girl, over an undisclosed period. Eventually, a meeting was arranged in the 1800 block of Perris Boulevard on a Friday afternoon. Little did Lockard know, the people he was conversing with were members of a special unit dedicated to catching child predators.
Upon arrival at the meeting location, Lockard was confronted by the undercover unit, who promptly contacted 911. Initially, the deputies who spoke to Lockard did not have enough evidence to make an immediate arrest, allowing the suspect to leave. However, after carefully evaluating the information provided by the advocacy organization, investigators determined there was sufficient cause for an arrest, leading to Lockard’s subsequent capture on Trumble Road at 9 p.m. that same day.
