Robert Card, the suspected gunman in the Maine mass shooting, where 18 people were murdered and 13 others injured, has been discovered deceased in a nearby wooded area, close to the sites of the heinous attacks. Authorities have confirmed that Card took his own life after a manhunt that lasted several days following the shocking acts of violence in Lewiston, Maine. The law enforcement sources have verified his death. The victims, officially identified by authorities, ranged in age from 14 to 76 years old.
On Friday morning, it was revealed that a note was found, although its contents were not disclosed. Divers conducted a search in the river next to where Mr. Card’s SUV was located, and at one point, a lettuce farm was cleared after reports of a gunshot. The shelter-in-place order was lifted, allowing residents of Lewiston, Lisbon, and Bowdoin to leave their homes for the first time since Wednesday night.

Who are the victims? Bob and Lucy Violette were tragically killed in Wednesday’s attacks. Bob Violette, a 76-year-old retired Sears mechanic and passionate bowler, was identified by his daughter-in-law Cassandra as one of the victims. Mr. Violette, who was from Lewiston, ran a youth bowling league and reportedly died while trying to protect the children he was responsible for on Wednesday night. Both Bob and his wife Lucy were avid bowlers and had started the youth bowling league at Sparetime Recreation. Bob Violette was recently inducted into the Maine Bowling Hall of Fame. Cassandra said, “He was just there for everything. He wouldn’t let you walk out the door without giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.” His wife Lucy was also tragically killed in the shooting, although her condition at the time of the press conference was unknown.
How did Robert Card move from place to place? The two shooting locations, the bowling alley, and the restaurant, are only a 10-minute drive apart in Lewiston, Maine. Police found Card’s white Subaru station wagon near a boat landing in Lisbon, hours after reports of the active shooting. The vehicle contained a long gun. Card’s body was discovered in a box trailer in the overflow lot of the Maine Recycling Corporation. Police believe there is a natural connection between the boat landing and the recycling plant via a trail, although details are still being confirmed.
