Cam Akers’ time in Los Angeles was filled with ups and downs. The talented running back showed promise in his rookie year, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. However, a season-ending Achilles injury in 2021 derailed his progress. Despite the setback, Akers made an impressive comeback and helped the Rams win a Super Bowl. However, in 2022, he became dissatisfied with his role in the team’s offense, leading to trade rumors.
Despite the trade talks, the Rams decided to keep Akers. He had some standout performances in 2022, but his form declined in 2023. In the season opener against Seattle, backup Kyren Williams outperformed him, creating tension between Akers and coach Sean McVay’s staff. This ultimately led to Akers being excluded from the lineup in Week 2, further cementing his departure from Los Angeles.
