‘Congratulations to Andre on concluding a spectacular Hall of Fame career. He was one of the most unique players I have ever been around, combining incredible instincts at both ends with elite athleticism and IQ. Just an absolute winner. I was lucky to coach him.’ – Steve Kerr pic.twitter.com/6E7rDtxnkC

“It’s the perfect time,” said Iguodala in an interview. “I felt my time in the league was coming to an end, and I didn’t want to neglect anything important.
“While performing at a high level is essential, family is everything. My son is 16 years old, and I have two daughters. Witnessing their crucial years is my priority.”
Iguodala enjoyed a remarkable 19-season career, primarily playing for the Golden State Warriors (eight seasons) and Philadelphia 76ers (eight seasons). He also had stints with the Miami Heat (2019-21) and the Denver Nuggets (2012-13). Throughout his NBA journey, he averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.
In 2012, Iguodala was selected as an All-Star and garnered All-Defensive honors in 2010-11 and 2013-14. However, his crowning achievement came in the 2015 NBA Finals, where he earned MVP accolades for his exceptional defense against LeBron James, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 4-2 series victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers and securing the franchise’s first championship in four decades.
Last season, Iguodala rejoined the Golden State Warriors after two years with the Miami Heat. Although he had a limited role in the team, appearing in only eight games and posting some of his lowest regular-season statistics (2.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 2.4 apg), his veteran presence was highly valued. In his retirement, Iguodala plans to remain in the Bay Area to pursue various off-court business ventures.
Owner Joe Lacob of the Warriors expressed his anticipation of retiring Iguodala’s jersey number 9 at Chase Center in the future.
