A Los Angeles man has pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a series of crimes in April, including carjacking and robbing gas stations and markets. Namir Greene, 23, has pleaded guilty to one federal count of interference with commerce by robbery. He could face up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced on November 29, as stated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
According to his plea agreement filed in Los Angeles federal court, Greene used a gun to threaten store employees during the robberies and demanded money from the cash registers.
On April 4, Greene confessed to robbing a Shell gas station in Marina del Rey. He waited inside the store until all customers had left, and then placed a brown paper bag on the counter, ordering the clerk to put everything inside. While holding what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun, but was actually a BB gun, Greene intimidated the clerk into emptying the cash register and placing $700 into the bag. He then fled the scene.
In addition to the Shell gas station, Greene admitted to committing armed robberies at various locations such as a Circle K in Long Beach, an AM/PM gas station in Whittier, the Gojo Ethio Market in Los Angeles, 7-Eleven stores in Pomona and Los Angeles, an Arco in Culver City, and a Mobile Fixx phone repair shop in Culver City.
Greene also confessed to using the BB gun to steal a Honda Accord from its owner. Police discovered the stolen vehicle in Ontario on April 15 and conducted a traffic stop. Greene attempted to escape, leading to a pursuit. However, he lost control of the car, crashing into a curb and disabling the vehicle. Law enforcement apprehended Greene shortly after as he tried to flee on foot.
According to the affidavit, Greene was identified through security camera footage, eyewitness testimony, his tattoos, his jewelry, and photographs from his Instagram account.
