Breaking News: Covid Infection Hits New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins

New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins Contracts Covid-19

New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has tested positive for Covid-19, forcing him into virtual campaigning just two weeks ahead of the October 14 election.

Hipkins took over as the country’s leader after former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s resignation in January.

His campaign team canceled his Sunday morning plans after he woke up feeling unwell in Auckland.

A subsequent test confirmed that he had contracted Covid-19, putting a halt to his campaign during a crucial stage.

‘He is experiencing cold and flu symptoms that began yesterday. He will be isolating for five days or until he tests negative,’ said a spokesman for the Prime Minister.
