A tragic incident in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood resulted in 15 people being injured in a mass shooting on Sunday morning, as confirmed by the local police.
According to an official statement from the Chicago police, officers were alerted to shots fired in the 1200 block of South Pulaski around 1:04 a.m. on Sunday.
Upon arrival, authorities witnessed a suspect engaging in gunfire at a building where a large gathering was taking place.
Despite attempting to flee, the suspect was apprehended shortly afterward, thanks to the swift action of the Chicago police.
Regrettably, a total of 15 individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. Among the victims, a 26-year-old woman was critically injured, having been shot in the left hip and right buttocks. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital to receive urgent medical care.
Another critical victim, a 48-year-old man, was shot in both legs and hips. He was also rushed to a hospital for immediate treatment.
The remaining 13 victims were fortunately in good condition and were receiving medical attention at various local hospitals for their respective injuries.
As of now, investigators have not determined the motive behind the shooting. Detectives are actively conducting an ongoing investigation to uncover more details.
