Blythe Resident Accused of Burglary and Truck Theft Pleads Not Guilty

A 29-year-old man in Blythe, Johny Caballero, has pleaded not guilty to felony charges related to a residential burglary and theft of a truck.

According to court records, Caballero is facing one count each of stealing a vehicle, evading arrest, and receiving stolen property.

His plea was entered at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, and his next court appearance is scheduled for August 15th at the Blythe Courthouse.

The incident took place on Tuesday at 8:52 am when deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary and the theft of a GMC truck on state Route 95 in Blythe, according to Sergeant Christian Bloomquist of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies later found the stolen truck at the intersection of Intake Boulevard and Agate Terrace Street. They tried to stop the truck, but Caballero allegedly led them on a pursuit through South Blythe.

“Caballero eventually stopped on a dirt road and attempted to flee on foot,” stated Bloomquist. “With the help of the Blythe Police Department, deputies surrounded Caballero and he surrendered without incident.”

Caballero is currently being held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio on $100,000 bail.
