Blue Jays Secure 6-3 Victory over Nationals, Thanks to Jansen’s Homer

TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays emerged victorious with a 6-3 win over the Washington Nationals at Rogers Centre. Danny Jansen scored three runs, while Kevin Gausman secured his 10th win of the season.

In the second inning, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run double, contributing to Toronto’s four-run inning. Jansen later added a solo homer in the third. The Blue Jays had a solid offensive performance, with eight of the nine starters registering at least one hit. This victory marked their second win in the last six games.

Jordan Hicks closed out the game in the ninth inning, earning his 12th save of the season. With the win, the Blue Jays now have a 72-60 record and are 2 1/2 games behind in the American League wild-card race. The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers currently hold the last two wild-card spots.

The game started with CJ Abrams singling off Gausman’s first pitch and stealing second base. He later scored on a single by Joey Meneses, giving the Nationals an early lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Blue Jays loaded the bases but couldn’t capitalize as Daulton Varsho flew out to end the threat.
