Bird Still on Building Featured in Twitter Auction

In a bid to boost its financial situation, the company formerly known as Twitter is holding an online auction called Twitter Rebranding from September 12 to September 14. With an opening bid of $25 for all 584 lots, there are various items up for grabs, including office equipment and memorabilia featuring the iconic bird logo. According to Mashable, some of these items may fetch tens of thousands of dollars. Among the highlights is the bird logo that still adorns the company’s San Francisco headquarters, although the winning bidder will have to make arrangements with an SF Licensed Company to have it removed, as reported by The Guardian.

The auction also features a unique hanging bird cage-shaped sofa and oil paintings depicting two significant moments in Twitter’s history. One painting showcases Ellen DeGeneres’ famous selfie from the 2014 Academy Awards, which became the most-retweeted picture on the platform. The other painting captures the photo of Barack and Michelle Obama that the former president posted after his re-election in 2012, setting a record for the most-liked tweet at that time. The Verge highlights some of the more unusual items, including a repurposed barn from Montana. In a previous auction, a bird statue sold for approximately $100,000.
